5 recipes with sashimi

The pure taste and soft texture of sashimi can be combined with many ingredients. Our nine varieties, including tuna and salmon, are fresh and of the highest quality, just like in Japan. Our chef Kuniyoshi Ohtawara and several home cooks used our products and share their recipes.

Temaki

As an alternative to the well-known maki, you can also eat sashimi in temaki. A temaki is a hand roll consisting of a cone of nori (seaweed) filled with rice and other ingredients, such as sashimi of tuna, yellowtail and salmon. Fun to make, delicious to eat! Sake Sashimi with avocado

Home chef Sachiko and her family regularly enjoy Hokkai’s fresh sashimi. “With Hokkai’s products we can finally eat the best quality sashimi in the Europe. It feels like coming home to Japan.” She combines the salmon sashimi with avocado, a delicious sauce and various toppings. A tasty dish, ready within twenty minutes!

Maguro Chu Toro Don

Mayu lives in Switzerland and misses the food from Japan. She solves this by cooking Japanese at home. She likes to share her secrets from the kitchen with others and shows how she makes a rice bowl with our Maguro Chu Toro (medium fat tuna).

Kaisen Don

As ‘the daughter of’ Manon Noordenbos always has her freezer well stocked with various fish products. She uses the recipes from Hokkai, but also those from her Japanese family. “The nice thing about a Kaisen Don is that you can make it as complicated as you want,” she says. A simple variant with scallops and lean tuna sashimi is easy to put on the table. If you want to go culinary, you can make a more luxurious bowl with different sashimi varieties and vegetables.

Salmon sashimi with ponzu

Salmon sashimi can be used in many more dishes and flavour combinations. Julia made a delicious meal by combining the salmon with spring onion, garlic slices and ponzu. Add some Japanese rice and spinach with shiitake and you have a healthy meal.
